Savory Grape

In-Store Wine Layout

To encourage exploration and diminish intimidation, we've arranged the wine in The Savory Grape's shop by the wine's Body Style, not Grape Varietal or Region, as in most stores. When we refer to Body Style, we draw an analogy to milk. Just as milk has body (skim, 1%, 2%, whole), so too does wine. A wine is light bodied, medium bodied or full bodied. Hence our in-store wine categories were born. Our guests tell us this is a great way to try wines they normally would not. Explore them below!

Full & Impactful. Wines in this group are big, bold and full bodied with lots of impact. Typical grapes may include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon (ie. Bordeaux), Zinfandel, Nebbiolo, as in Barolo and Barbaresco.

Medium & Balanced. One of the most popular groupings, wine here complements food well but is also sipable and capable of warming the soul. In this group you may find Merlot, Cabernet Franc and some Cabernet/Merlot blends.

Light & Juicy. Lightweight in body, but not flavor! Fun, drinkable reds, these are good alone or with lighter style foods. Pinot Noir is popular in this category.

Full & Rich. This group is dominated by big, full bodied white wines that typically are oaky, buttery white wines. Chardonnay is the key grape in this group.

Medium & Rounded. This group of wine is exceptionally versatile and right in the middle. Grapes here run the gamut - Chardonnay, Semillon, Vermentino, Viognier.

Light & Fresh. Dry or semi-dry and refreshing, these wines are often great as aperitifs or when relaxing in warm weather. Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc are often here.

Bubbly. Be careful, they will tickle your nose! From king of bubbly, Champagne, to very enjoyable Prosecco, you don't need a special occasion to enjoy these, just the desire.

Sweet. There is no better way to end a meal than with dessert wines. You will shout out "How sweet it is!"
